I've been known for being a Call of Duty player, a "fangirl," if you will. A few weeks ago I was invited to an event that was held during PAX Prime for the upcoming game
Medal of Honor Warfighter. I was invited because at the time I was a writer for AggreGame, a site that is no longer running, unfortunately. Moving on, let's talk about the game.
So what did went on at the event? First we got to have an amazing dinner and meet the other attendees from various sites. Then it was time to get down to business. We were able to play a few different game modes.
Sector Control was the first mode we got to play. It's a Domination type mode where there are control points in which you have to capture and defend. This mode uses the Fire Team set up in which you are partnered with someone. As a fan of Domination in Call of Duty, I liked it a lot. It didn't feel as rushed as Domination usually does and teamwork came into play a lot better in my opinion. Next up was
Hot Spot, an objective game type kind of in which there is a point to capture, or defend, depending on whether your side was attacking or defending. If you are an attacker, you see potential capture spots for the next location. Defenders see the next spot in which they need to be to set up to defend. You have multiple lives in this mode, and the Fire Team concept is in play. When you die you have the ability to respawn on your partner, provided they're not in the middle of the action, or you can spawn further back. Personally, I love this spawn system. The final mode we played was
Homerun. Essentially it is Capture the Flag but in this game type you only get one life. Definitely makes it interesting and I think overall this was my favorite of the modes we played.
Well, in a nutshell, I liked it. It took some getting used to for me since I wasn't accustomed to playing with the control scheme, but I got the hang of it over time. Gotta admit, I'm looking forward to this game's release.
