League of Legends and stuff

I've been known as a Call of Duty player since I hit the Twitter scene a few years ago. I've held true to that status for a long time but things have changed. Before Call of Duty I was all about Halo. I still love Call of Duty but this last year I've been playing League of Legends.

Why the switch? There's no true reason for it. One day I played it and fell in love with it, much like what happened with Call of Duty. Nowadays I even have a job that has something to do with League of Legends, something I really don't publicize. Well, until now, that is.

I'm the Community Manager for a company that is working on an app for League of Legends. It is currently available on the web and for Android and soon we will be launching the latest version which allows you to tweet out stats from your latest games. Later on there will be more added to it but for now, this is what we've got.

In a few days I'll be telling people where they can download/use the app and about giveaways my company will be doing in order to promote the app. This is kind of a big deal for me and a test of sorts. This is where my friends and followers come in.

I'm asking for help with this, to promote what we are doing at the company I work for, and having help would mean a lot to me. We are pushing the app starting Thursday. If you want to help, awesome. If not, well, I asked and I tried, that is all I can do.

So think about it, for me?

Medal of Honor Campaign

When we were invited to the PAX Medal of Honor Community event we got to see more than just the multiplayer. Multiplayer was the focus but getting to see a bit of the campaign is always a nice perk. You've already read about my Medal of Honor Warfighter multiplayer experience so I'm just going to dive right in.

This trailer is the particular mission we were able to play:

The mission was amazing. Visually beautiful with amazing audio it truly makes you feel like you're in the scenario of the mission. As you can see in the trailer, it's an intense mission and it definitely had me on the edge of my seat. There is definitely a sense of realism in the campaign, at least from the bit we were able to play. I only had one complaint about the mission we played. When you're supposed to mark the target, it isn't clear that you have to be out on the balcony to do it. I'll be honest, I had to ask the person next to me why I wasn't able to do it from inside where it was safer. It's ok, because once it was marked then true fun began. Getting to use the mini-gun was awesome. That was probably my favorite moment in that mission.

I'm pretty excited for this game to release, I'll admit. I think it looks amazing.

Medal of Honor Warfighter Community Event

I've been known for being a Call of Duty player, a "fangirl," if you will. A few weeks ago I was invited to an event that was held during PAX Prime for the upcoming game Medal of Honor Warfighter. I was invited because at the time I was a writer for AggreGame, a site that is no longer running, unfortunately. Moving on, let's talk about the game.

So what did went on at the event? First we got to have an amazing dinner and meet the other attendees from various sites. Then it was time to get down to business. We were able to play a few different game modes. Sector Control was the first mode we got to play. It's a Domination type mode where there are control points in which you have to capture and defend. This mode uses the Fire Team set up in which you are partnered with someone. As a fan of Domination in Call of Duty, I liked it a lot. It didn't feel as rushed as Domination usually does and teamwork came into play a lot better in my opinion. Next up was Hot Spot, an objective game type kind of in which there is a point to capture, or defend, depending on whether your side was attacking or defending. If you are an attacker, you see potential capture spots for the next location. Defenders see the next spot in which they need to be to set up to defend. You have multiple lives in this mode, and the Fire Team concept is in play. When you die you have the ability to respawn on your partner, provided they're not in the middle of the action, or you can spawn further back. Personally, I love this spawn system. The final mode we played was Homerun. Essentially it is Capture the Flag but in this game type you only get one life. Definitely makes it interesting and I think overall this was my favorite of the modes we played.

Well, in a nutshell, I liked it. It took some getting used to for me since I wasn't accustomed to playing with the control scheme, but I got the hang of it over time. Gotta admit, I'm looking forward to this game's release.

Call of Duty: Black Ops DLC Announced

Last night majornelson tweeted out that Treyarch's very own Dan Bunting aka danskdansk would be announcing details on the upcoming DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Arriving in February 1st to Xbox Live, First Strike will contain 4 multiplayer maps and 1 Zombies map. Berlin Wall is set at Checkpoint Charlie, the well known crossing point between East and West Berlin. Discovery is a German research station in Antarctica, abandoned from World War II. Kowloon is inspired from the campaign and is a ray rooftop map. Last but not least is Stadium, an athletic complex/hockey rink set in Northeastern United States.

Dan Bunting was tight-lipped about the new Zombies map, Ascension. Definitely looking forward to this map what with the air of mystery surrounding it.

Remember, First Strike drops on February 1st for 1200 Microsoft Points.
